So here we are later today at Lakeshore Professional Plaza installing a new underground conduit for fiber optic internet cables that will benefit businesses at this location.
One of Directional Drilling of Texas’ competitive advantages is our ability to relocate from one drilling site to another very rapidly. If you read our earlier article you will recall that this morning we were in Humble, but now we are drilling here. In this photo you can also see our water tanker that we bring to every job to assist the drill head to penetrate the ground.
This is when our low loader transport earns it’s keep. A low loader vehicle, also known as a lowboy or low-bed trailer, is a specialized semi-trailer designed to transport heavy or oversized loads, like construction equipment and industrial machinery, with a low deck height for easier loading and increased stability.
It’s the ideal way for us to move our drill machine from one job to another quickly and easily.
One part of this job involved installing a conduit from the road to a location on the other side of this wooden fencing. It incurred a couple of challenges that are well worth mentioning.
The first is that once we had drilled under the fence and avoided the tree and its roots we needed to turn the drill head approximately 80 to 85 degrees to the right. As the operator, the person working the drill, would be unsighted he is totally reliant on directions from the locator, the person using the locator tool.
Here you can see the locator working behind the fence close to the tree giving instructions to the operator how to alter the direction of the drill head. You can see he is wearing a headset, as also is the operator.
